TOUR STARTS: 4:00PM
The Sorg Opera Revitalization Group (SORG) is offering tours of the 134 year old Sorg Opera House on selected dates. The tour will include a discussion of the history of the theater, with looks at the exterior features, lobby, theater, balconies, projection booth, backstage and downstairs dressing area.
Each tour will last about an hour and a half, and will be led by a SORG volunteer. Visitors will also learn about the current ongoing restoration work on the theater, what SORG has accomplished so far, upcoming shows, and how they can help with future restoration efforts.
Visitors should be prepared for walking and standing throughout the tour; please wear comfortable footwear. There are stairs to both balconies and the downstairs, but visiting those areas is optional. Due to the age of the theater, the balconies and downstairs areas are not handicap accessible.
The admission fee for the tour is whatever you would like to donate to the Sorg Opera Revitalization Group; the suggested donation is $10 per person. Information on how to donate, volunteer with SORG and attend future shows will be provided during the tour.
Tour groups will meet in the lobby of the Sorg Opera House at 63 South Main, Middletown, Ohio 45044. The lobby will be open 15 minutes before the start of the tour. Free parking is available on either side of the theater, and in the large city lot behind the theater.
ATTENTION: The Sorg Opera House is a historic building and currently holds ADA exemptions. There are no elevators, and stairs are required to access the stage, basement, and balcony areas. Guests who cannot navigate stairs are welcome to join the tour and explore the ground floor of the theater. Please note that the Sorg does not provide mobility assistance devices.
